The Bush Set Top Box Hardware - NE

This area contains the main IO cabling to the other sections (video/power).

The connectors from left to right are
IDDesciptionNotes
PL7PowerGrey and yellow are positive (+5V) , blue and red are Ground (0V) (Check this! dont rely - it may be different depending on the power board etc. etc.)
PL8VideoPaird signal and grounds consisting of red, green, blue and composite sync1
PL4IR and LEDs2The first three ways of this connector are "Online" LED3, "Internet" LED and ground. The last two are signal and ground for the recived IR signal.
PL1SerialThis is a modification! I have brought the first serial port from the Superio controller here. Unbuffered TTL async serial

1There appers to be an unfited pair of poles on this connector possibly to allow for seperate syncs.
2These LEDs are controlled from the 7500FE GPIO lines.
3This is more than just an LED enable! It seems to enable the video subsystem too.

Interesting to note here the missing components, these were probably intended for audio output which seems to have been omited to save costs. The connector PL1 I have used for serial was probably intended as the audio out header. I intend to look at whats missing here and if it can be retro fitted.

Somewhat obscured by the cables in the picture is a small philips chip which is used to decode the IR stream from the remote in some manner. The decoded 9600 baud async serial is then presented to the second serial port on the SuperIo chip.

Another modification can be seen here in the bottom right hand corner of the picture. There are pads for a PS/2 type connector which has been populated on my board. This gives a conventional keyboard and mouse which has been very useful during experimenting with the board.
