The Bush Set Top Box Hardware - SE

The two 42pin DIL sockets here usualy contain the Macronix Masked ROMs with the software in it. I have made a slight addition here and added a ZIF socket in the first DIL socket. This enables me to re-program an eeprom with other software and not use the Pace software at all.

The RAM SIMM can be seen here. It is a conventional 72pin EDO SIMM with the limitation that it must be "square" (same number of RAS and CAS lines) for use with the embedded software. This is a limitation of the software not the hardware! The box ships with 8Mb of memory by default which is arranged as two banks of 4Mb. The SIMM in the image happens to be 16Mb single bank.

The CPU can be seen here on the left.

The other area of interest is on the right where there are pads for what appers to be a pcmcia style rom module. Possibly useful as a source of signals for futher hardware changes.
