Fountains abbey day out

On the 22nd March 2003 we all made a trip to fountains abbey. The abbey was destroyed during the dissolution of the monastery's by Henry VIII in the 16th century all that remains are some impressive ruins. The abbey is owned and run by the national trust. (That dissolution link is just one that came up on a google search)

Starting out - 11.30

We decided to get dinner at the restaurant before we started, Alex enjoyed playing in the children's area, the food wasn't bad either. - 12.30

Tickets bought, time to go see the abbey - 13.30

After the gardens we stopped at the tea shop for hot chocolates and some ice cream.

The way back to the car park was across the deer park and by St. Mary's church.

We returned home the senic route via pately bridge and Otley, on the way we ended up getting diverted because of the anti-war protestors ouside of the Menwith hill listening post. Finally Joshua assists in the editorial process by keeping me up until 01:30.
