ARMLinux

sorry if this a bit sparse atm but it will be getting better!

7500 based ports

Arm Linux is the arm cpu port of the linux kernel and is maintained by Russel King.

The 2.2.19-rmk kernel was used as a base for these ports.

The development work was done by booting this kernel using the Simtec ABLE bootloader, this is a modular bootloader that has been programmed into the eeprom along with the kernel and an initrd. Simtec have agreed if there is suficent interest to produce a version of ABLE for use with this kernel in an eeprom ready for use. Unfortunately this solution only provides for a fixed kernel and initrd as the current hardware does not allow for re-programming the eeproms in place. Writing a PLIP driver for ABLE alowing tftp boot of an image over the parallel port is a possible solution.

Arm Linux on Simtec 7500 Development board

Simtec have direct support for this board which supercedes the patches here.

Please note this is the board used in the Riscstation too.

The necisary changes were made and a kernel patch produced (this patch applys cleanly to the 2.2.20-rmk series too).

Arm linux on BUSH STB

The necisary changes were made and a kernel patch produced (this patch applys cleanly to the 2.2.20-rmk series too).

A zip archive of everything necisary to boot from a ppa drive is available(older version).

Arm Linux on a cats

There is already support in the rmk kernels for these boards.
